Question:
i am post op 9mo from lap band and vomit daily
i have had a really hard time finding the right amount of fluid in the band that works, for many months it was either far to tight and i couldnt swollow saliva to no restriction at all, now for about 2 months i have had good restriction although in the past month i find its very hit and miss with what i can eat, every meal is a guessing game, i rarely eat any meat, i stay with the soft or liguid foods, soups alot, pureed beans, when i try to eat anything of consistancy i get sick immediatly no matter how much i chew it, some days i cant even tolerate liquids, then the next i can eat an entire small flour tortilla with a peice of chicken, why is this happening, i have followed the rules of no drinking before and after, small portions etc, any suggestions? i am afraid of going in and letting out any fluid as every time that has happened prior then the battle of finding what i call the sweet spot of a fill begins, and i dont want to end up in the ER everytime i get a fill because i cant swollow or the reverse and i have no restriction. any advise would be helpful. thank you — lana C. I had the same problem with my band and it happened for 5 years. I had the
band placed in 2001 and had it removed in 2006. I now have a hernia, damage
to my teeth and severe acid reflux. For the last year I had absolute no
fluid in my band and there were days where I could eat anything and the
next day I couldn't even swallow water. I am not sure if this has helped
you or not.

I had a lot of trouble like you describe and suffered with it for just over
2 years before they had to remove my band by emergency surgery. I then
gained back all 75 lbs. plus more while working to get approved for gastric
bypass. I'm now 20 months post-op RNY and have lost 113 lbs. with no
problems at all. They said my band had either slipped or wasn't put in the
right place to begin with. My pouch drained so slowly even with very
little fill. I constantly coughed, especially during sleep at night with
lots of vomiting. Constant acid reflux. Be careful and don't let yourself
suffer too long. My advice is to get a revision to RNY and quit suffering
with the lapband. Just my opinion from my own experience.

If u r having problems ask about some of the CCs being removed maybe the
band is too tight. Also they just need to give it time instead of
following your diet normal make it longer; a lady in our group had to go 2
to 3 days clear liquids, then 2 to 3 days solid to give the pouch time to
relax and adjust. But if too much have a little taken out not all just a
little. Our dr. is very good about that so talk to them about it and get
that done. Also remember the lap band is a stage thing everytime you get
and adjustment you start over again just like day 1; that is the negative
to this but if you want success you must follow that.

I had the same problem they put me on nexium etc. I too thought my band
wasnt tight enough. Anyway, I had mine removed thru emerg surgery too. It
probably is too tight, dont let it go, you will wind up losing it. Trust
me! I did get rebanded though...I was afraid of a "bigger"
surgery. If you eat thinner substances it is easier, but not the answer.
