Question:
Has anyone had a long term dumping syndrome episode?
I am 2 weeks post op. This past week I ate 3 bites of a biscuit (I know I wasn't supposed to). 2 hours later, I am in complete agony!!!! - I had severe cramping. It lasted from about 5PM - 2AM. Has anyone else experienced this, or know why I did? Is there ANYTHING I can do in the future if this happens again?? Thanks SO much!!! Will — Will J. (posted on January 23, 2010)

You ate the biscuit WAY to soon. You should only be on liquids right now.
The way to prevent it in the future is not to eat until you are supposed to
eat solids and then be really careful. I wouldn't try any type of bread
until at least 6 months out.

You ate waaayy to soon...You are supposed to be on a liquid diet for the
first 3 weeks. Soft foods even...Do not do that because you can injury
your pouch and it won't heal properly then you will be in trouble. Baby
your pouch, let it heal..Drink fluids and if you have to eat, soft foods,
etc refried beens, scrambled egg, chicken broth and chew until liquid and
eat very slow..Good luck

I only dumped one time, and it lasted for hours, with bread! My doctor
told me that we should probably forget that bread ever existed, even
wheat/whole grain bread. After that episode, I believe it!
