Question:
When you have a headache what do you take?

I have not taken Tylenol since sugery, and I have a BAD headache tonight. I thought about taking the chewables that my kids take...of course Iwould have to figure out how many. Anyway, does anyone take Extra Strength Tylenol? (RNY 5 months ago)    — Lisa S. (posted on May 13, 2008)

My doctor said to use liquid tylenol or crush it. He even advised Tylenol PM if I needed help sleeping.

I use non-coated tylenol tablets... I give them a few careful chews and swallow...They don't taste bad like aspirin or other meds...and it's fast and easy rather than crushing them...I had to take one for a terrible headache today myself! Hope you feel better...I sure did! :)

I rub tiger balm on my temples and use lavendar oil. I don't put anything in my pouch.

I found that most Tylenol is that "hard" coated extended release kind. However they do make a "Rapid Release" formula in both that extra strength and the PM. There also is a "chewable" kind as well, but sorta hard to find. I carry those in my "glove box" in case I don't have water available.

I used Tylenol Go-Tabs when I was newly Postop. Now, I use Extra Strength Tylenol and I cut the pills to get through the coating. I highly recommend buying a pill cutter (they're a couple of bucks, literally) and cutting all your pills. We don't always have enough digestive juices to break through the coatings on pills. This doesn't apply to time-release formulas, of course. Check with your pharmacist to be sure. Good Luck!

I take a hand full of medicine at one time. I'm am a bander. I've had no problems in taking them. I take them only with a sip of drink though. Now can anyone tell me what RNY stands for.

I found that Tylenol makes a liquid in adult strength. I took this, when I needed it, for the first month. Then I started using the gelcaps, which go down easy, and I didn't have any problems. Hope this helps and good luck with your weight loss!

Stay away from asprin as it burnt a hole in my pouch. Tylenol does not have an anti-inflamatory drug so it should be OK.

I just break one tylenol in two and have had no problems with it. Tylenol is okay, but stay away from INSAIDS, like aspirin, and ibuprophen, aleve.

When I was still in the hospital right after my surgery they let me take one of my Maxalt, a migraine med that dissolves in my mouth. I have taken tylenol several times since surgery as well (it does not work very well for headaches for me though). Someone told me to drink a bottle of water and that would help too... I don't know. Benedryl also helps my headaches sometimes. Good luck to you!!
