Question:
Principal-Associates 4health care-what if you dont lose 30% of org weight on 6mo diet
I have Principal finanical Associates for health care in WI. I have to do a 6mo monitored weight loss program and my doc said insur. requires I lose 30% of orginal weight. I was wondering what if I dont lose that much? Will they still approve me or is it hopeless? I am in my 4th month and my weight has just stayed pretty steady. I am not losing much. Any suggestions or info on how to drop some weight quick or insurance info would be so helpful. I am very worried! my email is [email protected] — kristikat82 (posted on February 4, 2006)

This criteria that you are trying so hard to fulfill really makes me
sizzle. It is just another handle the insurance companies latch onto to try
to keep from paying out. "
(MY OPINION ANYWAY). bUT HERE IS SOMETHING SHOULD CONSIDER, OR YOU WON'T
MEET THE GOAL THAT HAS BEEN SET FOR YOU. iF YOU ARE JUST
"DIETING" YOU ARE SURELY SET TO FAIL, YOU MUST MUST MUST HAVE A
COMPONENT OF EXERCISE IN THERE AS WELL. a DAILY OR TWICE DAILY BRISK WALK
AT 40 MINUTES PER SESSION WILL SHIFT THE LARD THAT YOU ARE TRYING TO
INCINERATE. i USE THE WORD LARD ADVISADLY, IF YOU EVER SAW HUMAN FAT, AND i
HAVE BECAUSE i AM A NURSE WHO IS OFTEN IN SURGERY, You will see that it
looks and is just like animal lard. The exercise causes you to go into
positive energy out put. That means you are using more energy than you take
in. At the same time, as you heart rate increases during exercise you will
get full of feel good hormones and you fat cells respond to this and start
to unlock their fat stores and you can incinerate them, that is how weight
is lost. The operation you want works by limiting what, how much and what
you absorb, but you still have to deal with stored fat. (exercise) once you
have shown the insurance company that you are potential success, they will
be likely to spend money on you as they percieve the treatment will work.
So honey, do it for your self and for all the others who follow after you.

Are you sure it is 30 % ? That is an exsorbitant amount of weight loss to
require! I was required to lose 5% by Kaiser-Permanente and it wasn't as
easy as I thought it would be!
Perhaps their goal is for you to lose 30% and then not fall into a
high enough bmi to approve your surgery.
I am sorry I am of not help here, but the last post was sue
informative and maybe you should discuss these findings with the insurance
company.

That is such a stupid, thoughtless requirement! If we could lose weight
without surgery, we would!!!!! I did not lose (In fact, I gained weight!)
because I gain weight on 1200 or even 100 calories, but my insurance still
okayed me!
