Question:
WHAT DO APPROVAL LETTERS SAY EXACTLY?
I had my first consultation last Monday and the doctor said his office would let me know when they received "precertification" so we can set up a surgery date. Well, as impatient as I am, I called the insurance # on the back of my card and they said a letter has been sent to my dr and I and it says "you have met the criteria for the gastric bypass surgery". Does this means I am approved? I mean, it has only been 1 week. Or, does this mean it's just precertification??/ heck i don't know..... do you? — WannaBSlim (posted on January 30, 2006)

when I got my approval letter from my insurance company, it said I had been
approved for Gastric Bypass surgery and when my tenative surgery date was
and how long my hospital stay was approved for.

The precertification letter means you have been approved to have the
surgery and that they will cover the cost of the surgery as you have met
all the criteria needed to get the doctor and hospital paid.
