Question:
Has anyone tried Spirutein Protein Shakes

Hello. I'm just returning to the site after being away for awhile. I'm very excited about reconnecting with people who share the struggle on a daily basis. I"ve read many posts and haven't seen "spirutein" mentioned in the realm of protein shakes. I was wondering if anyone has tried it or if there are any suggestions about what I should look for in its nutritional labeling so I can decide if its best for me and my pouch. Thanks!    — trofie99 (posted on November 14, 2006)

I absolutely ADORE the Spirutein Strawberry shake. I started drinking Spirutein several years ago, way before my surgery. I loved the taste and when the time came for shakes post op, I just couldn't find anything that would come close in taste. In the beginning I make 1/2 serving shakes until I could get to the point of getting a whole one down in about an hour or so. My doctor says they are just fine for use, and I have yet to find one that I don't like. Most stores carry sample packs of them so you can try the different flavors before you spend the money on a big canister. My faves are the Strawberry, Tangerine, and I use the vanilla to mix in fresh fruit. I don't like the vanilla straight though, but that's my personal take. I suggest getting some samples and making them to try them out. The only think I can suggest is that I like them very cold and use a magic bullet blender to make them, adding 2 ice cubes. That does make them pretty thick though so keep that in mind. Good luck!

I, on the other hand, absolutely cannot drink "spirutein" stuff because the taste just does not agree with me at all. I could not get paste two sips before giving up. Everyone has different taste buds though and you really don't know what is going to work for you until you try it. My suggestion is to try it but to buy a single serving or sample size rather than buying a bunch and finding out you don't care for it. Good Luck.
