Question:
Anyone has Aetna PPO and how long approval takes

Hi everyone , thanks for great advice on stop smoking before WLS, not smoking anymore.My last preop appointment is next week and I will have completed the prepatory program for Aetna, and they will resubmit back to insurance company. Can anyone tell me how long it takes to get response from Aetna, Trying to stay positive, did everything they have asked me to.    — domino1123 (posted on May 10, 2006)

Congrats on the not smoking and going through with the best decision you will have ever made. I have Aetna and I had my approval within 24hours. However, I have heard of it taking up to 2 weeks. Good luck!

Wow - she got approval in 24hrs. maybe they are faster now. I requested with aetna last august and got approval within 2 weeks. I kept calling each day - bothering them - they didn't like it. But I had done everything - had everything as well as a note from my doctor recommending the surgery. (my main internist). Good luck! I am 7months post op and 97lbs down. Feeling SOOO Much better... My good friend who has Atena, got her approval in 2 days after submitting all paperwork and doing the 6month program. Good luck!!

I am in my last month of the dreadful 6 month process and my doctor says it usually takes no more than 15 days, but just stay on top of the insurance company, make sure they recieved all your paperwork

HELLO,I HAVE AETNA AND JUST HAD SURGERY MAY/4/06 IT TOOK ABOUT A WEEK AND A HALF DID A 3 MO WEIGHT REG PROGRAM NOT 6 MY WEIGHT WAS 233/5,2/ BMI 43.7/DONT WORRIE,I MADE MY SELF SICK FOR NOTHING WORRING ABOUT IT I TALKED TO PRE-CERT SEVERAL TIMES AND AETNA WAS JUST SO SWAMPED WITH ALOT OF CLAIMES,GOOD LUCK.

Once all the paperwork was in it took 2 days to get approval, but Aetna's policy is that it coudl take up to 30 days, good luck.
