Question:
Can you feel the band around your stomach?
I have just been approved by BCBS and am scheduled for surgery for the 7th of April. I'm not scared or nervous at all, I've been so worried about the approval. Someone at work asked me if I would be able to feel the band, I said I didn't know thats why I'm asking. — Linda T. (posted on March 29, 2006)

I am 2 weeks post-op. I don't feel the band around my stomach and can
barely feel the port under my skin.
Congrats and best wishes.

Short answer: No. The only time you "feel" it is when you get
your first drinks or ice chips after surgery, and you notice things feel
different in there. But you quickly get used to the sensation. Some
people can feel their port; I can feel *something*, but I think it's scar
tissue. Congrats and good luck to you!

I can feel my port. I'm 3 years out and have lost 100+ lbs . When I first
had the surgery I couldn't feel it, after the loss, it sticks out a little
bit. My surgeon has no trouble finding it! Which is good, believe me! I
can't "feel" the band.
