I am on a cariovascular drug called Corgard, and this is combined with a drug called Elevil (used to be used to treat depression) to prevent my bad headaches, but I am wondering if I get a headache a day or two before surgery (July 11th) can I take Excedrin? Also, what about headaches after surgery, does anyone get them after, and what can you take to relieve the pain? I probably sound like a weenie, but my headaches are real bad. Thanks so much... — Carol D. (posted on July 7, 2002)

I used to get a headache every day and migraines too. After the surgery the
were much better and I no longer get them daily. When I do get a migrane or
headache I take acetaminophen based pain relievers. I got some from my dr
that I take for my migranes but for reg headaches I take Tylenol

No aspirin at least 1 week prior to surgery. It thins your blood. Call
your docs office and ask what else you shouldn't be taking. They should've
told you these things. Also no vitamin E (can't remember the reason why).
Good luck and God Bless!

Which surgery are you getting? That will decide which medicines you can
and cannot take. I had been a migraine suffer for many years and was part
of the test trials for the imitrex injections before they came out to the
general population. Then I took the imitrex pills and excedrin. I am
thrilled to say the migraines left with the fat but I still take excedrin
for regular headaches. I had the DS so can take any over the counter or
prescription meds. I truly hope your headaches disappear like mine did.
Between the fat and the headaches, we have lost so much of our lives. Good
luck!
