Question:
Has any one heard of the ring used in RNY patients?
I have heard that some doctors put a ring just over the stomach on the RNY patients so their pouch does not stretch out over time and prevents over eating. I have asked this question before but no one seems to know what I am talking about. Has anyone out there heard of the ring? — okbuffy (posted on March 21, 2009)

I know of 2...The Fobi Pouch and Vertical Banded Gastroplasty. If you have
specific questions about each surgery, you may want to visit each surgery's
message board. http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/fobipouch/ and

There is a Surgeon in Hackensack, New Jersey who does a traditional RNY,
then adds a ring where the esophagus/food pipe meets the stomach. He feels
it helps to keep the new pouch from stretching out over time. I can't think
of his name. A co-worker of mine had him for her surgeon and has the ring.
I had a different Doctor and do not have the ring. I am not sure if it has
been proven to be beneficial or not......
