Question:
Unexplained right side pain...need major help PLEASE!!!

I had lap rny a little over 3 yrs ago and for over a yr now have been having severe pain on my right side just below my rib cage. This past Oct., I had another lap surgery for endometriosis during which a general surgeon came in and performed an appendectomy and took a look around to see if there was any scar tissue or something else going on but found nothing else. When someone pushes on my right side I just about jump off the table in pain and suffer in pain for days after but have had just about every test imaginable and nothing has been found. I would appreciate any help anyone can give me because now I just feel like I'm going to have to live hopelessly in pain forever:(    — rjyoder13 (posted on May 28, 2008)

That's what my surgeon thought too so he ordered a HIDA scan and it was normal.

Could be gallstones or problems with your liver... they are both in that area. Call your doctor and get some tests scheduled to find out what's going on? Pain is not normal. Good luck, Dawn Vickers, RN, BLC, CLC

Since you had endometriosis once, it could be back. Also--do you have ovaries? I had both and more problems than not. I have never regretted the complete hysterectomy, except that I kept one ovary. If I had it to do over, that would have gone the first time around because it had to go 5 years to the date of my initial surgery. But, both issue created radiant pain for me.

they removed my appendix with the last lap surgery for the endometriosis so there wouldn't be any misdiagnosis in the future...i have my tubes tied but haven't had the hysterectomy yet...my doctor wanted me to wait as long as possible because his personal opinion is i'm too young...my gallbladder and liver check out fine...i just feel so lost

HI I have spent 2 days this week in the ER with my 22 yr old daughter who is having the same problems. They just keep telling us abdominal pain and give us pain meds and zantac. So today the ER DR did a HITAscan and it came back negative. He gave us a number for a general surgeon and said to get her in as sometimes the gallbladder is diseased with no stones and is very hard to diagnose. So off we go to the general surgeon. Good Luck Linda G

No one has mentioned kidney stones. If a stone is passing through from the kidney to the bladder, this is extremely painful. Good luck.

I had surgery, RNY, Jan. 2008 and then three blood infections in 3 months. The Dr.'s couldn't find the cause. Finally after 20 days in the hospital, they did surgery and found a bile duct closed off at the bottom or end of the duct and hidden from view. It didn't show up on CAT or MRI. I'm so happy they found it. I've been in the hospital 25 days this year so far and that's awful. I hope they find your trouble. Keep on them to find your problem. They kept saying gall bladder trouble but I had mine out 10 years ago!! I had the same pain. Other times no pain. Good Luck!!
