Question:
Help-I have to order my student nursing uniforms right befor surgery!!!!
They will be ordered the last of Sept. and my surgery is 10-2. I start clinicals in November. I don't know how to order them because I'll be losing a lot(I hope) of wt. Anyone been through anything similar!! — mbanks (posted on August 16, 2000)

That would be hard to predict - especially without knowing your height and
weight and current dress size; along with the type of surgery you will be
having. One good thing though: you can always get clothing made smaller
by a dressmaker - but you can't always get things let out! If you are
going to be wearing them one month after surgery, you probably don't want
to order anything smaller than one dress size or so.

Actually, nursing uniforms may not be the problem other work clothes can
be. See if you can get the drawstring pants and smock shirt style. I'd
say order them a couple sizes smaller than you ware now. You will probably
drop quite a bit in the first month if you stick to the normal diet plan.
You will be on liquids and the pureed foods for a while. Don't get more
than 3 pairs. See if you can get by on two as you will have to get others
at about 4 months post-op. Check out any clothing exchanges if you don't
have to use a particular style or color. That will keep the cost down.
Also check with other students to see if they have any they have "out
grown", as you lose.
