Question:
EYE WRINKLES at age 31

I am 31 years old and 14 months post op. I had gastric bypass in January of 2009, and have lost around 120 lbs, went from 286 to 165. I just noticed this past month that I have recently gotten wrinkles under my left eye. I don't have them under my right eye. I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them, and if there is anything I can do about it? It isn't really too bad, but I can notice them. There are about 3 or 4 and makeup seems to cake in them. They are more noticeable when I have foundation/concealer on, but I can also see them when I have no makeup on, too.    — Lyndsay30 (posted on March 5, 2010)

I just wanted to share that I found a makeup that doesn't seem to cake in wrinkles. It's the Loreal True Match ROLLER. Looks like a cake foundation, but has a little roller brush applicator. The TV commercial compares it to the look of airbrushed makeup, and I agree.

I am 56 years old and had a gastric bypass 18 months ago. I have been stunned with Mary Kay products and how they have helped to shrink my wrinkles with me! (Now I live in England, so I am not trying to sell you anything.) But I use the Miracle Set, Firming Eyecream (on my eyes, neck and cleavage!)and foundation; my skin just keeps getting better along with my body.

I am 54 and had RNY 3.5 months ago. Last week I asked my dermatologist for a prescription for retinol (Renova). She said I should have already been on a regimen; it prevents/helps fine wrinkles. As far as the wrinkles on the left side. I have one on my cheek that is only on the left side. For me it is because I almost sleep exclusively on my left side. I think my face gets scrunched. So now I make a conscious effort to sleep on my right side as much as possible.

Being almost 4 years out, I don't want to burst anyone's bubble, but...you all will be amazed at what you will find after you start losing the weight. Pre-op you don't see varicose veins because of the excess weight. Post-op...it's like...where did THESE come from?? Same with wrinkles. Granted it won't happen to everyone. That's why plastic surgery isn't recommended until you are at goal for at least 6 months. Some PSs require a year after goal before they will do plastics. Even without plastic surgery, the end result is worth it.

I am 45 and too have face lines that I didn't have pre op..I guess fat people don't have wrinkles..hahaha. Oh well.. My eyes are the part that bother me, but I am done with surgeries... there are creams out there that help and moisturizers are a must! Best of luck ! Hugs, Kim

Laughing at Kim's last post...I got into an arguement with inlaw over a remark I made about how us fat peeps don't get wrinkles cuz we just fill them out!

Yep..less fat/wrinkle filler! I looked so gaunt and drained the first two years PO...Creams do help especially when used daily over time. Keep hydrated as well! Water helps so much to keep your skin full and plump! You need to change your sleeping habits as well...You must sleep on one side of your face that has the wrinkles (That's why it's only one side) TRY sleeping on your back or in a way that your face does not crinkle on the pillow...Since I have learned that trick, I stategically sleep with one hand tucked under my chin/jaw so only my ears touch the pillow... I just cannot sleep on my back comfortably or that would be MY choice! Oh and EXFOLIATE!!!!! Use mineral powders instead of heavy foundation...And keep your vitamin levels on track!!!! Get labs to be sure! Hope that helps! It did for me!

Thanks so much to everyone who responded. Your responses were very helpful, insightful and a few made me laugh. ((hugs)) I actually realized that the new under eye concealer I just purchased about a week ago was enhancing the wrinkles that I must have already had, but just never noticed. They possibly have gotten worse since surgery, but I think I may have had them before surgery. I am going to maybe try the eye roller makeup or the Mary Kay. Thanks again everyone!!
