Jamie, GOOD LORD WOMAN 39 POUNDS IN A WEEK AND A HALF!!! I am 3 weeks as well and have a higher BMI than you. I seem to be on a plateu also and havn't lost a pound for a week. I have lost 22lbs since surgery and to me that's great! I don't expect to lose it all the first month good heavens we'd all look like shar peis(sp?) I know it is frustrating but we are just getting back into the swing of things. I know for me I would probably lose more if I would take in more protein but that seems to be a hard one for me. I had a leak in my stoma last week and it filled w/ blood so I feel like I did the day I got out of the hospital. I'm starting over but I would of never lost 22lbs on my own before. I think your doing fantastic!!! Way ahead of the game. Take care and good luck! Audrey

Hi Jamie, I just answered a previous question about this issue, and what I told her is that at 3 weeks that is an excellent loss so far I didn't even lose thatmuch at 3 weeks! You probably hit a plateau now, and believe me I ahve hit plenty of them already and I am only 6 mths post-op, but my doc told me that your body needs that time to adjust inbetween loosing weight so fastly! So even if you slow down for a week or two or even three do not get discouraged, it will pick back up and you will start to lose again give your body that rest it needs cuz you still are loosing way more than any other person who goes on just a diet and never had this surgery, plus too much lose tooo fast is not good for you! and 39# so far is great! and it seems like you are right on track, so keep up the good work and keep on doing hte right things! Good Luck to You!

I hit a plateau at 3-4 weeks out too, with a 30 pound weight loss prior to that. It lasted for almost 3 weeks and drove me nuts because I was being so good. Then it broke and I lost 20 pounds in the next 21 days. I also posted the same question here and it was helpful to hear that this is very common. It gives your body the chance to catch up with the loss, it is also the point where most diets usually end and we end up giving it more food. It is stubborn! When it finally realizes that this time is different and we aren't going to send in reserves then it gives in! I also noticed that is when the weight loss started to show. Just keep up with your water, protien and exercise and you will be a happy camper in a couple of weeks. Thanks - Jill
