Question:
Post lapband surgery and chronic back pain Increased!!
I am 3 days post Lapband surgery. I've had chronic back pain (although can't find the source of the pain), controlled with morphine, for the past 7 years from a car accident. From the second I woke up from surgery, the back pain is SO much worse! It's like it triggered or put pressure on whatever is causing the pain. Has anyone else had this happen? — Libby R. I too had a lot of back pain and even cramping in my left cheek (butt). It
was worse than the actual stomach pain. I did a heating pad a lot and
walking helped work it out. Mine lasted a week. If it hadn't have been
for that I would have been feeling better so much quicker. Good Luck!!

When I had my RNY surgery, the back pain was a bear, I had sciatica and I
had to get a shot of cortisone.

I am 12 days post lap band surgery and the discomfort I felt in my back was
from the gas that the doctor used to inflate me for the surgery. It took 3
or 4 days for it to dissipate by the body absorbing it. Hope you feel more
comfortable soon.

It is pretty common to have back pain after any type of surgery. The way
you are positioned on the OR table may put pressure on an area of your
back, neck, etc. It will get better, just give it some time. Also, as
someone said, the gas in your body can be a factor too. The answer to that
is lots of walking. Best of luck!

I had it really... really bad prior to surgery (back pain). Due to the
liquid diet, my kidneys were over stimulated and the high protein diet I
switched to -- same deal. It got better, but for a few weeks prior to
surgery and after I was miserable. It got better with time. Good luck.
