Question:
extremely dry feet.
I drink more water than I am suppose to. I was wondering if anyone else has extremely dry feet. I put lotion on at least a couple times a day. If I dont put lotion on them before I goto bed in the morning they are PAINFULLY dry. I had RNY a year ago April 30th. Any help is appreciated! — rmalwick (posted on April 21, 2008)

I had Lapband surgery a month ago and I found that also. I tried the Aveeno
Oatmeal Foot Bath and do that once a week and it is quite refreshing and my
feet feel great.

I have eczema and very dry skin from constant steriod cream use, and one
thing I've been told is to use creams instead of lotions because they
provide more moisture. You're also right - adequate hydration is also
important.

My husband has this problem and we put vasiline on his feet at night, then
cover with a pair of socks or footies. It is gross but it helps him. His
feet would actually crack from the dryness.

I have always had a problem with cracked heels, not since surgery. I loved
to walk in bare feet (indoors of course) which I had to stop. I either
wear socks or flip flops at all times now.
I would recommend your PCP check your circulation and refer you to a good
Podiatrist initially. I was given a prescription heel cream that helped.
I now get weekly pedicures to keep the problem under control.
Good luck,

I had RNY in december and my skin all over got terrible dry. The back of my
hands were like velcro...sticking to my blankets at night...my face was
flaking. I started taking a biotin lutein complex from GNC and within a
week by skin was better than before my surgery.

I could fit my pinky nail in the cracks of my heals. Every night I would go
to bed with vaseline on my heals and socks. Now I don't have it at all. In
the winter I wear socks all the time so I vaseline at least 2 time a week
and no it isn't slimy feeling.

My husband and I have found that an Omega supplement helps with this, as
well as using olive oil as a moisturizer. I've heard that if you wouldn't
eat it, you shouldn't put it on your largest organ; your skin. I'm glad to
hear you're drinking adequate water. You can put a little olive oil into a
protein shake if you use those, and you can also put a little coconut oil
into your hot tea. Both will moisturize your skin. They help with
metabolism, too!

Another great remedy is using Shea Butter from Avon. I like to put this on
my feet and put socks on at night. Also, I had a foot doc tell me once to
use regular ole crisco the same way. Sounds weird but he said it worked
like a charm, never did try it myself though :)
