Sounds like what happens to me when my B's and Iron are low. You said you already take shots- Are you due for a shot? Are you doing them with the right needles? (my insurance would only give me those little diabetic needles, had to actually go buy the Intra Muscular ones and I felt a million times better!) Other than that, try eating foods with more Bs and Iron if you can! I'm allergic to them, so shots are my only recourse :-)

You could have something totally unrelated to WLS. Call your primary care doctor and speak to a nurse to see if they think you should come in for a visit. I have had shingles where it hurts to touch your skin, but there are number of other possible diagnosis. Give your doctor a call today.

I was told that my FP doctor ( GP ) would continue my care when my year with the surgeon was over. he or she should know what labs to get. Iron, B12, vitamin panel, thyroid, kidney GFR, A1c, etc. I would strt taking my suppliments and increase the b12 and iron and get to a doctor. Good luck

If your B12 is low, how low? If your immune system is compromised (not enough protein/vites), you could be talking thrush in your mouth (tho burning tongue is often B-vites) and/or shingles, as someone else said. If you email me at [email protected], I can send you a list of labs to have run. If your B12 is low, then I'm guessing it's VERY low and a monthly shot won't help, but you might need daily to bring it up before you have pemanent nerve or brain damage. Most docs are willing to settle for levels in the 200's, but newer studies point to 800 as a low. I'm guessing you must be under 200?

I can't comment on anything but the tongue. If you go on google and type thrush, you will get a bunch of websites describing the symtoms, which includes a raw, sore tongue with patches. You can also go to google, enter thrush, and click on the images tab to do the search. Regardless, I think this is an indication that you need to be seen by your PCP. I also highly suggest that you get in contact with your old surgeon and ask for a referral to a surgeon or doctor who if familiar with both short and longterm health needs of those with WLS. You should also ask the former surgeon for a list of labwork and how often it should done so that you can make sure your pcp is aware and doing these studies. Best wishes.
