Question:
Anyone know any safe colon cleansers I can take to detox my body?

I was diagnosed with diverticulitis and I am 1 year post op. I was wondering if anyone knows of any safe colon cleansers I can take to clean out my body? Also, is the diverticulitis related to the wls because I am only 35 and no one in my family has ever had it.    — tammiherb (posted on June 13, 2007)

Hey I have diverticulitis, it runs in my family bigtime, although it can skip a generation or even two. Avoid stress!! nuts, alcohol, berries, seeds and corn peas and espically popcorn. Fleet phospho is probably OK to get cleaned out. but I dont believe that cleaning the colon accomplishes much of anything but its just my opinion....

Its important to stay regular, try to get in enough fibre, stool softeners sometimes help. I use some real butter or oils to what I eat, that REALLY HELPS ME, drink lots of water!!! get dehydrated and moisture is stolen from colon. You should always ask your doctor. The RNY is done on your stomach and small intestines, diverticulitis is in your large waste intestine they arent related.

Go to the drug store or supermarket and buy a bottle of Fleet Phospho-Soda. It costs less than $5.00 and will totally clean you out. I had to take this to clean out my intestines so that I could have a colonoscopy. I have photographs of the insides of my intestines, shiny and pristine, so the I know the Fleets stuff really works. I think that colon cleanse products are a big rip off... they claim to treat/cure a non-existant problem. Please check with your doctor before taking anything... and remember that these colon cleanse products are meant for people with normal, intact GI systems.... Best wishes.
