Question:
Anyone who waited the 1-2 years to get pregnant after surgery
I'm looking for anyone who was unable to get pregnant before surgery, waited the 1-2 years and was able to get pregnant afterwards. I've read alot of people getting pregnant soon after surgery by accident, and was wondering if that was because it is easier right after surgery, it seems many Dr.s feel we may be more fertile after surgery, but does that continue long term. The reason I'm asking is me and my husband would love to have another child, I will wait at least 1 year after my surgery to try, but after everything "calms down" is it harder to get pregnant? Thank you for your answers, Jen Lap RNY soon — jlflbf (posted on January 26, 2006)

it should be easy to get pregnant. i got pregnant after 5 months because
your hormones are so out of control. your birth control does not work. i
suggest being on something really strong. mine was not planned. tammi

Jennifer- I got pregnant 10 months post-up (unplanned) after being told by
doctors that it would be difficult for me to get pregnant if I would be
able to at all. I did fine throughout my pregnancy with the exception of
not being able to eat enough towards the end. I had to eat every hour just
to maintain my blood sugar level so it wouldn't drop. I really feel like I
would have lost more weight if I would have waited longer to get pregnant.
I only gained 8 pounds while I was pregnant and lost 20 lbs right after I
had my son. I have pretty much stayed around 165 since then. My total
weightloss was 160lbs (started at 326lbs). I just feel like I stumped my
initial weightloss with the pregnancy. My recommendation is to wait 18
months before trying to conceive. It will be healthier for you also.
