Question:
I have a cold and I'm scheduled for surgery on Friday!!!!
Does anyone know if I will be able to have my RNY on Friday? My cold is not bad, no fever,no coughing, no runny nose, just stuffy and a scratchy throat. I would really hate to be pushed back, the doc is so busy I probably wouldn't be able to get in until December. — Susan M. (posted on October 5, 2003)

I would call your PCP for a suggested remedy. I am sure if you are
careful and don't over do it this week you will be fine. The congestion is
the thing you want to get rid of to be sure it doesn't interfere with
anesthesia. Best of luck!!

I got a mild cold three days before
my surgery. As long as I didn't have a fever, neither my surgeon nor the
anesthesiologist were concerned. You should let both know that you have a
cold, but I'll be surprised if it
interferes with your having surgery. Congratulations, and best wishes.

I called my dr when I thought I might be getting a cold,I was told to show up as schedueled,
It is the anestesiologists call wether or not it is safe to do the surgery.
Hope you feel better!
