Question:
I need to find 3 medically supervised weight loss programs
I just found out today that I have to have 3 medically supervised weight loss programs as required by my insurance. They also require they be in the last 5 years with at least weigh-ins bi weekly with progress notes from the doctor or nurse. they also can't be weigh-ins from a ym or a group like weight watchers (which I do have). So now it's like starting from new. Plus each time has to be 12 weeks long. So the earlist my surgeon with summit the paperwork to the insurance will possibly be 9 months to a year. I need to know of 3 programs, medically suopervised, that won't cost an outragous amount. — romoa5 (posted on March 24, 2003)

My "medically supervised diet" was inexpensive. It consisted of me
going to see my doc or doctors nurse and getting weighed. Then I would tell
him that I was continuing to eat low fat and excersizing. He would then
document it all and I would be out the door in 5 minutes.

the previous poster has the same idea i've had for some time. where are
people getting the idea that "medically supervised" means
expensive? go to the library (free) and get a book on weight watchers,
atkins, whatever diet you like. keep a food diary, have a biweekly consult
with a doctor or nurse (at my clinic, meeting with a nurse for anything --
flu shots, blood pressure check, weighing) costs nothing and does not
require an appointment. do this for 12 weeks, repeat. no cost.
