Question:
If my BMI is 37 and have high cholesterol can I get approved through AetnaPPO?
I was wondering if anyone's dr. ever put in a little extra so You could get the surgery? I am so worried I will not be approved. my surgian says I will have to fail the sleep study to get approved. I am worried sick — [Deactivated Member] (posted on January 14, 2010)

Do you have any other co-morbidities like high blood pressure, depression,
weight related asthma? Those are also factors that they take into account.
I have the same insurance and the entire process went very smoothly for me.
Good luck

Your best bet is to call the insurance company. Everyone's policy is
different - it depends on what your employer will pay for.

I have Aetna. When my surgeon submitted my paperwork to Aetna, my BMI was
34.7. My one co-morbid condition was high blood pressure. I asked several
other physicians to write letters in my behalf. I also submitted a letter
to Aetna documenting my weight loss history. And, I am so thankful to God,
I was approved. Call Aetna directly and talk to a representative regarding
your plan's specifics.
