Question:
have anyone used a colon cleanser since their surgery? Is it safe to use?
I have heard so much about Advanced Acai Berry and colon cleansers. I have been stuck for over 4 months as for as weight loss. I am having a hard time with bowel movements and I feel bloated all the time. I heard that the two above works great. — cclayton (posted on June 21, 2009)

It's really best to just eat foods with fiber.. I found that eating fiber
rich foods keeps everything scrubbed and adding a probiotic (capsules or
yogurts) also helps keep the flora in your intestines balanced and can
resolve the bloating/gas and other digestive issues as well! I don't think
we need colonics at all when we get better results from eating the right
stuff...Just my opinion as these things worked for me!

Hi Cheryl... I'm not "stuck" or on a plateau or anything, but the
weight is just coming off more slowly than I had anticipated. My
nutritionist and my surgeon's PA have both advised me to get as much fiber
into my diet as possible, so I went out and bought some ground flax seed
and I put it into everything I can - yogurt, cottage cheese, scrambled
eggs, etc. It has a nutty flavor, and isn't unpleasant. However, they
also told me that using Benefiber would be perfectly acceptable... and so I
went shopping... Lo and Behold, Benefiber has recently begun making a
Strawberry Kiwi "stick pack", like the Crystal Light On The Go
packets, and so now, I have 2 or 3 bottles of Benefiber water a day.
They're delicious... and I've become more regular, AND my weight seems to
be coming off a little faster.

I asked my doctor about this and he said you really shouldn't do a colon
cleanser because they can dehydrate you. The only time a person should use
a cleanser is if they take a medication that leaves toxins in the liver.
So I wouldn't recommend a colon cleanser for any reason, unless instructed
by your PCP.

hi there, I am 5 1/2 years PO and there are times well lets say nothing
gets moving, so I spoke to my Dr about an herbal pill called "Colon
Clenze" ( He said it would be just fine)its over the counter ,can find
most everywhere, you take one to two ( I recommend only ONE) @ night before
going to bed by morning when you get up you will go the bathroom and your
colon will be clenzed (LOL).. When I have to take this I just increase my
water by about 8 to 10 oz to keep me hydrated..
