Question:
Is there a Doctor in Alabama that will accept medicade for gastric bypass surgery?
I am 36 years old an I have back problems an I have sleep apnia. I can barely walk r stand for more that 2 to 3 minutes at a time. I have a machine I sleep on every night but it still doesn't help that much. My back problem is getting worse. I scared that by this time next year I'll be in a wheel chair it's so bad. Please if there is a Doctor out there that can take medicade anthat can help me get this surgery please contact me. I can't work in the shape I'm in an my 12 year old son is suffering from it to. I can't hold a job cause I can't walk are stand. An if I had one sitting down I would have a problem staying awake. I don't leave home alone anymore cause I am scared of falling asleep driving. So if there is a Doctor out there that can help please let me know. I don't want to have to live the rest of my life in a wheel chair. Thank You. — cheche1236 (posted on May 4, 2008)

No doctor is going to come to you...I promise that! If you you want to get
better you will have to do the work and act for yourself.

If you have a case worker or someone to call at Medicaid and? or a primary
care physician that is where you need to start. You can do this on the
phone and computer to a large extent.
It seems like life is quite closing in on you and that is such a hard
situation. You will have to actively work on getting better and healthier
and that will take a change from you first and foremost.

Bless you, I am sorry you are dealing with so much. I started with
medicade, I now have Medicare. Medicade is excepted you will need to go
through your PC. I never had as many medical problems as you so you should
not have a problem. First step find out from medicade what there
requirements are. They will tell you what is required. Best wishes You will
be in my prayers.

Sorry I keep hitting the wrong buttons!!!! aarge.
If you actively seek help and show your sincerity you will prevail...but
nobody will do it for you. First you need to believe in your heart that
you are worth this and worthy of this and then you will be able to make a
case to get the surgery done.
My first ever friend that has had the surgery was a medicade recipient and
it took her 2 years and a hefty amount of work to win her approval, but she
did get it and is doing beautifully...I am sure she is down an easy 200
pounds or so and I am so proud of her.
You will have to prove your mettle and show all your cards to get approval
but with hard work and persuit you can do it...The surgery is not a fix it
program for your life though ...There is work to be done even now if you
are to get it back... Keep it up dear one and get on it...wishing and
waiting for someone to call you won't get it done. Good luck to you and
go for it!

First I want to say I wish you weren't having such a hard time. But, there
is an answer. All you need to do is do the research. I see you have a
computer, so go online and search that way and make some telephone calls.
My aunt had the RNY in NY with Medicaid. Do it for yourself and your son.
You both are worth it. You will feel better by getting the process rolling
and deciding to make positive changes in your life. Hang in there and keep
us all posted. :-)

ive been in your boat sister, let me tell you what i did. I got on obesity
help and searched surgeons in my state and some had testimonials of
insurers which included medicaid well i called all of them for 6 months i
called every bariatric surgeon in the state of illinois and i found
dr.oliphant through another lady on oh who had medicaid and got him. i no
it is an aggrivating process and it is very frustrating that not very many
people will accept medicaid. but there is some that do you should have to
research and dont give up. i will be praying for you. god bless you and
your family.

Obesityhelp.com there are a list of drs that are listed. Just go there to
the website www.obesityhelp.com and under FORUMS scroll down and find what
you need.
