Question:
Recent dealings with Great West insurance
I have Great West Health insurance and they require a 6 month Dr. supervised diet which I am 3 months in to. I was on Jenny Craig for 8 months in 2005 but not Dr. supervised so I don't think they will count that. Anyone had recent dealings with Great West that is willing to share their experience? — classite (posted on January 7, 2006)

Is there any way you can get a statement from Jenny Craig stating you were
in their program for that period of time? Just a thought. Hope it helps.

My experience wasn't real recent (almost 3 years ago now), but I had kept
my sign in and weigh in records from Weight Watchers (I'm a natural pack
rat and had them for the past 5 or more years that showed I would lose,
drop out, gain it back, lose, gain back, etc.), and that, along with the
letters from my doctors about my co-morbidities and BMI, was enough for
them to approve me for an RNY. I think anything like that would be
acceptable.

Although I did not have the same insurance as you, all I had to show was my
weight watchers card to the doctor, I really don't think he even looked at
it, but that was all I needed. Good luck to you!

I delt with Great west over the summer... I had my doctor write out that I
had tried various (I gave dates, pounds lost etc) of all my diet attemps
over the last few years... that was it... I did however recieve a denial
letter first (its their policy) then the 2 days later without ever having
to appeal I got an approval. So just in case, you get that, do be
dissappointed right away!
Good Luck!
