Question:
Which physician in MI is best to use to evaluate for mechanical failure?
For those that have had WLS and have regained weight in MI, what physician group did you use to have a exam and necessary testing done to determine if there was other reasons for weight regain other than eating habits. I am 7 1/2 years out and 2 of 3 kids born since having WLS but my original surgeon only participates 4 hours from lower michigan. I am going back to the basics in the mean time but am suspicious of a enlarged stoma or mechanical failure from my open RNY. I am looking for a open minded phyiscian who is more concerened about finding the reasons than just assuming its bad habits only although if that is the problem I want to focus on intake proportions. — Rgreathouse95 (posted on January 4, 2010)

I just had rny on 12/23 and absolutely love my doc and clinic. They are in
Lansing and the clinic is Sparrow Weight Management. I don't exactly know
how they are on revisions or issues, since I'm a newbie and all, but I know
that I have never been treated with judgement. All of the staff are kind
and friendly and treat me with respect. I highly recommend them to start
with. They are very much into their success rates so you aren't just
pushed in and pushed out again. Best of luck to you! Kristin

Hi Rebecca..I live in Southwest lower MI and had my RNY at Grand Health
Partners near Grand Rapids, Mich. Great group of docs over there and an
outstanding staff working there. Personally I had Dr. Paul Kemmeter, but
the rest of the docs are great as well. Hope this will help you. By the
way some of these doctors are difficult to get into because you had your
original surgery elsewhere, they don't like "to sail into someone
elses waters" You must be persistent with them to get help.

By the way again Rebecca, Grand Health partners are also a center of
excellence.

I also went to Grand Health Partners for my VSG in Sept 09. I had Dr James
Foote and highly recommend him and the staff at GHP. They have an
extensive program to work with.

Dr Carl Pesta in Centerline, MI is not only highly recommended but is the
only one in the country the VA will send patients to for complications
and/or re-dos.
