Question:
Are severe hunger pains normal??
I had my surgery 2 years ago. I was not hugh when I had it, but I did lose 85 lbs and went from a size 22 to a size 14. The last several months, I feel hungry all the time. The hunger pains are so intense that it horrible. Has anyone ever heard of this before or what causes it??? — pattipooh59 (posted on April 3, 2009)

Yes...Same thing happened to me and the cause was that I was totally off
track eating simple carbs, sugar and drinking with my meals regularly.
These severe hunger pangs are what they call the "carb
monster"...It is exactly like there is some mean grumpy little guy in
your gut just wanting to eating anything that is not nailed down to the
countertops! My suggestion...Go to this website and do the 5 Day pouch
test...I did and in 5 days I slaughtered the carb monster, got back on
track with the drinking 30/mins before and after a meal and was back in
control...I had also gained 10 lbs too...so it helped me as well because I
was not so hungry! I began measuring and weighing portions and learned that
it was enough, without being hungry! Try it! It's only 5 days...And you
will feel soooo much better! While I did the 5DPT, I also cleaned out my
fridge, pantry, etc and got rid of the carby stuff and went back to reading
labels and looking for high protein and fiber, low sugar, no trans fats/low
sat fats and I added back ONLY complex carbs.( Fruits and veggies. And
whole grains which I eat in moderation) and I have not heard from the carb
monster in over a year! I really had no idea how powerful it could
be...and how hungry I could feel...The entire plan is here at this site!

You should follow up with an MD to make sure that it is not an ulcer which
could cause you more problems in the event that it is not treated.

gastritis and put me on Nexium. I havent had a pain since! Good luck to

Greetings everyone! Anita R. always does so well in what she writes that it
is a challenge to add anything to her words of wisdom. But, I'll try. I
am 4+ years RNY, doing exceedingly well. What I've found is that whenever
I get hungry, I find it is because I've overlooked eating or juicing enough
green and yellow vegetables. I drink a fresh glass of vegetable juice
(freshly juiced) and immediately I am satiatiated. Blessings, Christine
