Question:
Anyone know of a PCP in Toledo, OH that will write the medical letter??
I have been waiting for over 3 weeks for my Dr. to write my letter for my BCBS insurance. I'm calling today to let them know either they write and fax it to the surgeon today or I'm changing Dr to someone that will write it. So incase they say good luck with another doctor I need to know who in my area will write one. — megan23 (posted on May 5, 2008)

send me your email address and I will send you a letter that you Doc only
has to fill in the blanks. Everyone, this letter is effective only if you
have completed all your ins. requirements and you are ready for ins.
submission. [email protected]

BCBS is usually not difficult with approval when all letters are in place.
If you have discussed this with your PCP and he/she is in agreement then
start harassing the receptionist...It is silly to have to wait so
long...Tell them you need an appointment with the doctor to talk about the
letter and why it is delayed. If it is because of a remiss office worker
that will get it done...HOPEFULLY!!!!
That might help
I really think finding another doc will just delay everything and who wants
that. GOOD LUCK!!!! don't ya hate the waiting!!!!! I am there too!!!!

Changing docs now is only going to cause you more delay. Also generally
the insurance company likes to see that you have a history of being
overweight...of course if you changed docs then they would send your files.
I had trouble, too, in getting things from my PCP. I finally just went
into the office in person to get what I needed.
I wish I had more advice for you. You're in the "jumping through all
the hoops" phase which is extremely frustrating and maddening to put
it mildly.
I thought I'd NEVER get my surgery. Seriously, it was a total nightmare
and then one day like magic the sea parted and I got my approval AND a
surgery date all at once. Know one knows how that happened but I took it
and ran with it.
My surgery was Jan. 14, 2007....good luck to you and I'd keep pestering
someone in your PCP's office.

Hi Megan,
I am in Toledo also, and had the exact same problem. I harrassed my PCP
for weeks. I finally went to the office as soon as it opened and sat at
the door and told them I wouldn't leave until I got my letter. I also took
a bunch of paperwork with me about HIPPA. They were basically violating my
rights, and I could have filed a grievance with the fed gov about her. I
had that with me to basically threaten her also, but didn't have to use it.
Needless to say as soon as I got the letter I was looking for a new doc.
I now go to Port sylvania family physicians, I am not sure if they take
BCBS; (I have paramount ins). Hope this helps. Let me know how everything
goes!!
Good luck
Caroline
