Question:
has anyone ELSE had trouble with receifing BARIATRIC SUPPLEMENT SYSTEMS?

i've been a subscirber of this supplement system since having WLS surgery jan. 15th, 2005. and i've NEVER had them send my refills without having to send them a reminder. and even then they dont reply and they send them late. i like the supplements, but i'm not crazy about the way they do business. i'm wondering if i'm by myself with this problem, or if they make a habit of it. i'm also wondering if there's another product as convenient and as good that i might use instead.    — pk (posted on July 3, 2006)

Hi I am not sure what vitamins you are speaking about. there is a chewable vitamin called baricatric advantage. they sell it at walgreens. they are made just for us. they are 4 chewables a day. they travel great to keep in your purse or car and they a pretty good tasting. good luck

I also use the bariatric vitamins "OpticSource" mfrd by Novartis. I usually chew two at a time since I never seem to remember four times a day and manage twice a day. I have had bloodwork done twice and both times I was fine. These vitamins are not cheap, but convenient. I haven't taken any other supplements, other than protein drinks. No B12, no iron, no calcium and I seem to be getting enough just from these. I asked my surgeon about all the supplements I was told I would need to take after wls and he said these have done the job for most of his patients, which is why he recommends them. I also order two months worth at a time and reorder when I open the second bottle. I don't know if Wahlgreens has a refill system.....I will have to check that out. These vitamins run about $25 month.

I order my chewable vitamin, chewable iron, calcium lozenges, and my B-12 from Braiatric Advantage.com. I have a 3 month standing order. Not had any problems with them. I heard about them when I went to an OH seminar in Troy about a year ago. My blood tests have come back in the normal range ever since I started these. I had my open RNY on April 26th 2004 and have lost 180 pounds. Good luck in tour new journey. Trudy

I've never heard of this particular vitamin, but it sounds to me like a "one size fits all" vitamin. Just take so many 1 or 4 or whatever, and you are covered. I have found it is actually less expensive to do the individual vitamin components. I am able to control my levels much better and more inexpensively. When I first had my surgery over 6 years ago, I went on a supplement like this. After a few months, my blood work showed me all over the map. Too high in some things, two low in others. How can you take more and cut back at the same time? Now, I have my blood work done, if I see a trend of things going in the wrong direction, I can adjust more easily. One good source is vitalady.com. She's had surgery, and knows her stuff vitamin wise, and can help you decide what would be a good basic program. Then, let your bloodwork be your guide. It's still working for me after all these years. Regards~
