Question:
Have HMO wanting doctor that's not in directory-

There is a doctor that is much closer to me than the ones listed in my HMO directory. He also does the RNY and gets you in sooner. What can I do to have him as my doctor. He was listed in the PPO, but unfortunately I am HMO. Thanks.    — [Anonymous] (posted on February 23, 2002)

Hello...talk w/your ins. co, but I think that you would have to either go with the HMO doc or wait till open enrollment and switch to a PPO...at least I think that's how most ins. cos work. Good luck!

I too experienced the same thing I had to get a referral from my pcp but the down side is that the insurance will only pay him 70% of the allowed amount I'm responsible for the rest but, I'd rather pay out of pocket instead of wait to the end of this year. I hope this helps
