Question:
Embarrassing question regarding exercise
I've been exercising 6 days a week. 45min cardio 45min resistance training.I'm getting pretty close to my 1year anniversery so I decided to up my cardio to twice a day in order to meet my goal. Everything has been going well, however I noticed that I'm sweating profusely and smelling like ammonia once I finished exercising. Don't care about it mornings cause there's no one in the gym at 4:15am, but nights the gym is full and I'm so embarrassed by it. I done some research on this and it says that my body is breaking down protein, something to do with the amino acids and not having enough carbohydrates and water. I'm concerned because I drink at least 80oz of water a day and I know I eat enough carbs. I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the surgery. Has anyone had this happen to them? If so, how do I stop the smell? — NicoleFranks (posted on June 12, 2009)

I think it may be ketosis. I had a "weird smell" for months. In
my urine, sweat, etc. I think your body is just burning everything off and
it puts of a weird smell.

It can be that your body is just burning more protien since you have less
stored fat now. You should just keep up the good work and not worry about
the smell. You could tell your surgeon and see if they think it is a
problem.

I gotta agree with Lis...and don't worry about the smell! The gym is FULL
of sweaty people and it's what you all do in there anyway...No one is going
to come over to you and say "Hey, your smelling up the
joint"...LOL It all blends together to make that wonderful gym smell!
LOL AND you are probably the only one who really smells yourself! Some
might actually LIKE your smell! LOL hehe Serioulsy though...Just do what
you have to do ...They expect sweat and smells at a gym! More power to you
for working on your body! That is all that should matter!
