Question:
Sugar Readings Increased Post Lap RNY

I am 7 months post lap RNY. (I am within 10 pounds of goal.) Within the past few weeks my sugar readings have been around 250. I can't imagine what is going on. For months my readings have been normal and my A1C has been 5.9. Anyone else had this happen? I'm contacting my doctor today to see what I should do.    — ShirleyF (posted on November 3, 2008)

I just did resurch, and its says that it can cause blood sugar levels to increase. do the research on internet, put the question in the search bar( does cripo increase blood sugar levels) or (cripo side affects blood sugar levels) Cindy

I guess I would have to ask you to begin journaling everything you eat and drink right down to the letter for at least a week and take a look. Perhaps you are eating or drinking more carbs than you were planning on. I didn't see anything about exercise... if you haven't been doing some, now would be the time to start, especially so close to goal and those last few pounds can be the most difficult. If you have been exercising, change it up, alternate types, lenghts, strengths, etc to surprise your muscles and get some blood sugars coming down. Water consumption is a big thing too- drink, drink, drink!!! If these don't help, I would suggest you contact your surgeon/endocrinologist to discuss.... they are always the best source. Best of luck, Dawn Vickers

I don't have an answer either. I wanted to just tell you I would be thinking about you and hoping this gets straightened out.

usually this is due to an infection, so not surprising this happened since you note you have just had an infection-- also can be stress related- like if you are getting poor sleep, high level of upset about life events, etc. causes cortisol to be over-produced, raises your blood sugar. some meds can do this as well.

I have had the same thing going on lately. My A1C is great, but sometime my blood sugar is around 200-250 too. I'm just watching it for awhile.
