Question:
Please Help !!!! I'm appr. 4 3/4th mths. out and I think I've hit a Plateau
I've always been somewhat a slow loser, I've lost 88.9 lbs (67.4 since surgery on April 10, 2007) I've averaged 2 lbs a week, a few weeks more, some less. Last week I only lost 1/2 a lb, and this week .02 of a lb. I'm guessing this is a plateau and it's really bothering me. I'm so afraid that I'm not going to loose any more weight. Please can someone who's experienced this give me some advice. Thank You in advance to all who answer my question. Annetta — GrammaAnn (posted on August 29, 2007)

Annetta:
Dont' worry we all go through plateaus. I went through one about 4 months
post of and then another at 10 months post op. I was in a 6 week plateau
not losing anythign when my doctor told me NOT to lose anymore adn all of a
sudden i lost another 10 lbs in a 3 week period. Just keep doing everything
that you have been doing and everythign wil be fine. You're doing great if
you've already lost almost 90 lbs. I am almost 1 year out now and will be
having my tummytuck on sept 10.

Hi Annetta, increase your protein and water intake for one. Make sure to
walk!!! Go for a walk as often as you can for exercise. Some people lose
quicker than others. Don't be discouraged. Best wishes, Mickey

You have to trick your body by doing something different. More water,
different exercises than what you have been doing, more protein intake etc.
Good luck and God Bless!

Hello Annetta,
Fear not! you are doing well. I'm 6 months out and have almost lost 86 lbs
of my pre-surgery weight. Just keep doing what you're doing -- maybe alter
some of your exercise routines and see if that helps. Sometimes our bodies
become immune to the same exercise routine.

As long as you are still losing you are NOT on a plateau. And 1/2 or .02
is still losing:) The doctors told me that a "true plateau" is
when you go 6 weeks with no loss. I know it is rough at first because we
want all the weight off right now, but it takes time. One day you will
look up and be done losing and say wow, that went FAST!

You need to stay off the scale. Just weigh once a month. Weight always
comes off quickly at first.
I am 16 mos out and have just now lost 100 lbs. I don't obsess. I only
weigh once or twice a month. I usually find out I've lost more when I go to
my drs office.
I never worried that I didn't lose as fast as others. Everyone is
different.

Hi Annetta, My surgery was the day before yours, & to date I lost 61
lbs. I hit a slow point about a month ago, Then between Aug. 9th & Aug.
27 I lost 10 lbs. Go figure. Now on a lull again. I cant exercise as much
as most people because I need a hip replacement, But the pounds are coming
off gradually. Good Luck, were over 1/2 way to the 100 lb. mark. Yahoo!!!
