Question:
Now 16 months out. Still need to loose 40-80 lbs. Finally getting back on track.
Well as the title says, I am 16 months out. I lost 250 lbs so far. I would like to loose another 40-80. I had been rather lazy the last 3-4 months due to a cross country move, and slightly loosing my mind with being a military wife and hubby going to deploy again... Anyway getting back on track now. Picked up with my exercise nearly right where i left off. Well actually walking a little faster and twice as long every day. I am walking at a speed of 2.9 mph for 2-3 hours a day now, on a treadmill. I have a full home-gym and treadmill. Because of the amount of weight i lost, I do have TONS of loose skin, and a HUGE Pani. So I know some of my "hope to loose" weight is going to have to come off with plastic surgery. I have been monitoring all activities (neurotically) in fitday pc version and am eating a avg of 600-750 calories a day, with over 90-120 grams protein, under 9 grams of fat (non saturated), and under 20 grams of carbs (no sugars). My work outs say I'm burning 450 calories a hour (smart ass nordictrack treadmill). And I finally started taking ALL my meds, vitamins and thyroid, and extra supplements (had 'forgot' them about 8-9 months). Because of a emergency surgery one month after my initial surgery I no longer get hunger cravings. I can absolutely forget to eat for a week and other than passing out I have no problems, but I am having horrible HEAD hunger sometimes. Especially for those amazing things called skittles.... But I've avoided them, as I got way to smart and learned how to use my tool to allow me justtt the right amount of sugar before I'd barf. So now I am trying to start back over from the begining, liquid phase, blah blah, and other than head hunger for candy. I don't have any problems, except the scale had plateaued. Oh and my only real craving besides candy is watermelon, but I swear I can eat a whole 15 lb one when i get started. Oh and other than the watermelon thing, I know my pouch has not stretched, I still get very full very fast with anything non liquid.I'm trying to get into ketosis, but so far nothing and I lost like 15 lbs in last few weeks, but now its moving at a snails pace. So any advice on making the pounds shed? — Navada L. (posted on November 24, 2009)

Sounds to me like you've put your body into starvation mode, and it's going
to hold on for all its worth to any extra weight you have. My surgeon and
dietician say: 65 - 90 grams protein per day (but I eat more just because
I think it's healthier), LESS than 25 grams of fat per day (I think 9 is
waaaaay too low), and LESS than 120 grams of carbs per day (I try to keep
mine between 50 and 75 - and believe me, that's a head trip for someone who
was an Atkins fanatic until I developed a fat intolerance!). I am 8 and a
half months out, and I've lost 127 pounds and am 10 pounds from goal, and I
typically get in about 850 calories a day, and I work out 3 days per week
for about 3-4 hours at a time - but I should work out 5 days, at least on
the treadmill. I'd say you need to up your intake a little bit so your
body doesn't think it's starving, and see if that doesn't help. I know I
went into starvation mode once, and my body wouldn't lose an ounce, no
matter how little I ate or how hard I exercised. It took more than one
person telling me to eat more.... I just couldn't believe it.

What are you eating to make up the carbs? Mine are almost all fiber. Hehe I
wonder if a pack of skittles a day would help :P lol

I would like to know what you are eating..lol To get that much protein and
so few calories would be great to know. I do agree with the starvation
theory. You should be eating more or exercising less. To burn 450 cals an
hour you must be running! I do 20 mins and only 40 calories and thats at
2.5 with an 8 incline, so its like going up hill all the time. Slow it down
a little bit, give your body a chance to catch up . You've done great so
far..with the exception of the skittles! lol I haven't had real sugar yet
and I am 17 months out. I met goal at 10 months out. I have had a hard time
maintaining goal as my body wants to still lose, and I do fluctuate between
115 and 120 now. But i get 1500 cals a day, work out 3 times a week. best
of luck to you and congrats on what you have done thus far! hugs, kim
