Question:
Why does everything I eat make me nauseous??

Hi everyone, I dont know why but I stopped receiving my email from obesityhelp.com every morning, and I just figured out that I think thats why I have been sick!! No, really this is the scoop.I had my surgery on January 12,2009 and I was reading my mail every morning and getting VERY educated from all the questions and answers on here every day. All of a sudden I stopped getting them ( I dont know why)and lately I have been getting nausea every time I eat. Last night I told my husband that all of a sudden I had this big awakening!!I was sitting on the couch after eating a half of a barbecued beef sandwich and it hit me like a ton of bricks!I was having a dumping episode!I was shaking, nauseaous, head pounding, heart pounding, etc. I realized at that very moment that I havent really been paying that much attention to what I have been eating and thought that I could eat anything I want because nothing has made me actually vomit.I wish I could vomit when I get like this but I guess that wont happen. My question is this, how do I get back on track? I tried just having a small dish of oatmeal for breakfast this morning and it still made me feel sick.By the way, I am still losing weight because I cant eat much but I just have been eating the wrong things.I cant believe how much I had come to rely on all the support and info from this website, and how quick I changed when I didnt have it anymore. Also, what do I have to do to get it everyday again?? Thanks so much, Mary B.    — mary beauregard (posted on May 4, 2009)

You probably need to cut out some simple carbs...Oatmeal is not a food I would cut out of my diet, I eat steel cut because they are a complex carb and very chewy...Regular oatmeal in the morning makes me crave carbs all day...so I cannot start my day with regular instant oatmeal...So I suggest you start with an egg or a protein shake rather than cereal...The amount of sugar in barbeque sauce might shock you! Read the label on the bottle you use...Mine has 16 g of sugar for 2 T!!! Then on top of the bread that's a lot of simple carbs for one meal...On top of beef being hard to digest and one of the highest in satuarated fat, you were bound to dump on that sandwich! I would have too! LOL You'd have been better off omitting the bread and using only a tiny bit of barbeque sauce for a little flavor...Or better yet, plan better meals...That sort of thing should be in moderation! Fish is lower fat than meats...Watch the sauces! Measure and weigh your portions...Do not over eat...Limit complex carbs to 1 per meal...and avoid simple carbs...Watch your sat fat intake...that can cause dumping just as easily as sugar/simple carbs especially in combination of both!! It would be a great time to start a food journal so you can see for yourself what you are eating and where you can improve/cut back on bad choices! I love "The Daily Plate" at Livestrong.com for a free online journal... Cut your sat fat down and no trans fat at all! Eat good fats like olive oil, avocado, omega 3's from fish and flax, canola is even better than butter and solid fats! Just because you CAN eat anything, doesn't mean you should! You should still be making best choices for long term maintenance! The closest you follow your original basics, the less grumpy your pouch will be. Eat protein at every meal! It should be the biggest portion on your plate with complex carbs secondary...I love egg beater in the morning...I would prefer a real egg, but sometimes that fat in egg yolks can give me a belly ache...unless I boil the egg...I have no idea why! I get lazy as well...and it's so easy to just shake and pour in the pan with a sprtiz of olive oil and a little shread cheddar! LOL As for auto OH mail....you have to check the site manually for a while until they find and fix the glitches in the program! I'm sure we'll get back auto mail eventually. Good luck!
