Question:
I have had rny lap 11 months ago and have developed a hernia
The hernia is right above the large incision where the stomach is. My question is if I decide not to take care of this can I have problems. I do not have much pain but it is hard for met to sleep on that side. The lump sticks out and is a little bigger than a gof ball. I developed this hernia at about 8 months ago — dbobb32 (posted on March 7, 2008)

Oh, Please seek a general surgeon! A hernia can bust through the skin and
cause a million problems. It is something that should not be ignored!

I'm not being sarcastic, but do you know what a hernia is? It's a weakness
in the wall of your abdomen that allows a loop of intestine to come out.
If the blood supply gets cut off to that loop, then it strangulates and
dies and you have necrosis and you need surgery to remove that portion of
the intestine. In addition to the problems you would have from infection.
Call your doctor and get it fixed right away.

I don't know why you let it go 8 months. Get a professional medical
opinion. It may or may not be a problem. I don't even know if there is a
medical doctor on this forum. You should consult your on GP on this matter,
and he may say you need a referral to a general surgeon.

Go get it fixed. It is not that big of deal right now, but you do not want
a problem down the road. That is what you have insurance for. God bless
you!
