Question:
How long do you have to be on the pre op diet?
I was just wondering how long do we have to be on the pre op diet. I have seen some people 14 days and others less than a week. I know my nutritionist told me of someone who got there date and only had like five days to prepare. So I guess I am asking what is the max and minimum days. First off i will tell you that every DR is diff.i had to go on a low
carb(less than 60 grams a day) two weeks before surgery.then liquid 24
hours before.i also have had friends that have went through it and said
they had to be on a liquid diet for two weeks before surgery.

It greatly depends on which clinic and surgeon you are dealing with. I
have made inquisitions at three different clinics and all three have
different pre-op expectations of their patients ranging from one day of
clear fluids, to one week of protein liquid diets to two weeks of protein
liquid diets.

I,m having DS surgery,I don,t have no liquid diet, my surgeon just wants me
to lose 5 pounds, on a low carb diet. I get to eat right up to the
afternoon, before surgery, then I got the prep,to clean me out for
surgery. They said the 5 pounds was to shrink the liver.
