How long do you have to be on the pre op diet?

I was just wondering how long do we have to be on the pre op diet. I have seen some people 14 days and others less than a week. I know my nutritionist told me of someone who got there date and only had like five days to prepare. So I guess I am asking what is the max and minimum days. Thanks Dawn
