Question:
Getting run around from Peachtree Surgical Bariatrics for surgery date
Hey I am wondering if anyone else is having trouble with Peachtree Surgical and Bariatrics in Atlanta, GA? I got Wellcare to overturn my denial and faxed that letter to their insurance rep on February 12th. Since then, everytime I try to contact the office, I get nothing but the run around, and the administrator doesn't even contact me back. Does anyone know what on earth is going on? Why the run around? URGENT HELP PLEASE! Thank you. — crystalsno (posted on February 28, 2007)

If you are talking about Titus Duncan's office, then you need to go to
another doctor. He took out my gallbaladder in 2000, but, when I contacted
his office about this surgery, they have gotten to be so busy, they are
like a "sweatshop" now. Kept getting hung up on, and they
wouldn't even see me, without knowing that my insurance or I would pay
first. Not one appointment. Its a case of them getting too large and not
handling it well. I had my surgery in Oct with Dr. Freeman in Anniston and
they are totally the direct opposite. I ended up being a self pay, but, it
was better than dealing with people too busy to talk to you, especially
when you already feel bad about yourself.

I know you are anxious to get started, and I don't know why they have not
returned your call. If I were you and there was no effort (apparently) on
their part to contact you back. I would in a professional way go visit
their office and ask to speak with the office manager. Not in anger or
being pushy, I would kindly explain to them that I am excited about the
overturning of their decision and would like to set a date for surgery.
Then ask what the process is that I need to go through and try and get the
ball rolling. Then I would be sure and thank them even though I had to
chase them down. You have to remember that you will have a relationship
with this company for a long time, both before and after surgery, so don't
burn your bridges, build relationships that will help you on both ends of
the stick. You get more with honey bees with honey than with lemon. Put
your anxiety in check and see what is going on. Also, if they are not
working with you, then look for another surgeon with will. You have an
approval, you can change surgeons! The choice is yours as long as your
surgeon will take your insurance. Take care. Patricia P

To Irish, I've already gone through all the hoops etc, and I can't afford
to see a different surgeon as I'm on Wellcare/Medicaid. I've already been
approved for the surgery, so just getting an appointment to talk to them
about the surgery is not the problem, it's getting the surgery date that's
like pulling teeth. It's not the surgeon's fault, it's his staff. Someone
is dropping the ball and that's not how an office should be run. As for
one of the other poster's, I live about 40 miles from them, and I can't
afford the gas to run up there and speak to them face to face, however I
will keep in mind about not getting mad at them or losing my cool. Thank
you!
