Question:
I have United Healthcare Choice Plus and want to know what they need?
I have United Healthcare Chouce Plus Insurance. I tried calling them but cannot get the answer I am searching for. I am wondering if anyone else who has this insurance can tell me how long it took for them to get approved and what the insurance needed from them? I am 5'8" and weigh 298 my BMI is 45.3. I do not have any major problems like diabetes, or high blood pressure, or even high cholestrol but all of these things run in my family. I do have arthritis in my back due to my weight, and I suffer from headaches everyday. If you have any information you can e-mail me or write a reply thank you so much for your help. I had UHC EPO plan and my BMI was 41 with no other health issues. Once my
doctor wrote the letter and submitted it to UHC, I was approved in a week.
My surgery is March 15. UHC did not require any additional information,
but my doctor had me get a cardiac and a pulmonary clearance and have an
EGD done. I wish you all of the luck.

Arthritis in your back, knees, and hips can be qualifiers. the headaches
may be from sleep apnea. This is also a qualifier. You should have a
sleep study done. I didn't know I had sleep apnea until I had the study
done and found out that I stopped breathing 24 times each hour. No wonder
I had headaches and was tired all the time. I use to have to sleep 12 hrs
to get 7 hrs. of sleep and rest.

Hi Susan,
I also have UHC-Choice Plus. I'm currently awaiting approval. However,
they did tell me over the phone that it was a covered benefit once I was
able to prove medical necessity. My situation is similar to yours, no
serious co-morbidities, but BMI of 46.3. Good luck.
