Question:
I need a friend. I have gained 50 pounds back in 6 yrs post op. Can I lose it again ?
I have been through so much since my surgery...divorce, 2 moves, and I lost from 237 to 112. I am now back to 164. Can I lose it again or have I failed at yet another thing? Please help me! — KellyM (posted on June 29, 2012)

I don't know the answer, but I feel your pain. I too have gained about
40lbs. back in 4 years. My dad passed away two years ago with cancer
within 6 months of diagnosis and I am on only child. I was devastated. I
started snacking while staying with my mom. She would put
"treats" by my chair like she always did for herself and dad. I
would put the snacks back into the kitchen and she would bring them back to
me. It is depressing. My husband also had the surgery and was looking
awesome--he has put a good chunk back on too.

Mom of 10: I know we can do this...we have the tool, we just need to get it
back in working order. I know what you mean about snacks and such. I am a
teacher and have been snacking on cheez its and all kinds of goodies. It
has been a very difficult year. Still, I don't want to feel and look like a
failure. And that is my biggest problem. I feel like I have failed at so
many things, my marriage, my children, school and now my weight loss. I was
one who truly thought if I could ever lose the initial weight, I would
never regain it. Oh how wrong I was. Hopefully, we can encourage eachother.
I have no friends here that understand what I am going through. Most people
think that in order to lose weight you just "stop eating". I wish
that it was that simple.

You have never failed as lon as you keep trying! I have gained 50 pounds
back since 2001. I have decided to start where I am at today, and not look
at the past. Just take it one meal at a time and I believe it can be done!

weight actually up 30 lbs from my lowest weight and man would I be happy to
get back there!

This is a great question! I've gained back 20 lbs. after 5 years and
dropping it is very difficult. I don't even know if weight watchers will
work since our caloric intake was so much less than that of non-surgical
dieters. I also wonder if that even makes a difference. So far I've
dramatically decreased my food intake, not been hungry but worried about
nutrition so I started making those protein, infused smoothies again and
just basically tried to remember how and what I ate immediately after
surgery. I also started exercising 30 - 45 minutes a day...it's been 3
weeks and so far I've re-lost 9 lbs. I'm gonna shoot for another 16 and
try to make it an even 25. In addition, I've been checking on Dr. Oz (Love
him!) and started taking Green Coffee Bean supplements and CLA (information
on both can be found on his website) I think they're helping. Good luck to
all of us!

I just had vertical sleeve surgery on July 24th, 2012. I just want to
encourage you to continue what you started, don't give up! I am sure you
are not the only one who have slipped. Please remember the reason why you
had surgery and get back up!! Be blessed.

The same thing happened to me. I was determined to get it off but was very
stressed and busy with work, caring for aging parent, helping with my
granddaughter. So I chose Take shape for Life program. I got a free coach
and she supported me though the weight lose phase of program now I am in
the maintenance phase. I am on my way to optimal heath. Please email me if
you want to hear more about this fantastic program. [email protected]

I haven't had surgery - I was going to but heard too many stories and
decided it just wasn't for me. However I did find an online program that
has taught me to eat healthy and do kettlebell exercises which are fun!
Check out www.livefitrevolution.org and see if this might help you. There
is a member named Vincent from NY who had bypass in 2010 and joined this
program to learn to eat healthy and keep his weitht off. I personally used
to weigh 350, was 319 when I joined LFR in April and now weigh 274 and
going down. Everything is free at LFR, the nutrition program, exercise
trainer, and wonderful support from other members. Take a look it might be
what you need! Gloria
