Robbin, congratulations on the birth of your child. Children are a
heritage from The Lord and are such a blessing. I sympathize with you in
your struggle to lose weight after pregnancy. I know you are discouraged
and struggling, but let me encourage you. You have a powerful tool that
will help you if you just strengthen your tool and your mind. The tool
will only work as much as you use it. The head is ready to condemn you for
gaining weight, the head is teaching you that you cannot do this, the old
values we have while we are obese are still very much alive in our heads.
I have coined a phrase that Obesity is a head issue with a body
consequence. It sounds like your head issues have gotten the best of you
for now. Robbin, it doesn't have to stay that way. If you will return to
the basics, exercise, water, and protein, I think you can lose some of the
weight you have gained. You waited far too long to start, so I don't know
how much you can lose, but you will never know until you begin. So why not
begin today. You may have to get tough with youself and the great thing
about food is that you decide what to put in your mouth. You have to deal
with the head issues that make those decisions for you, and you will have
to think about everything you eat and why. It is work, but if you really
want to lose, it is worth the work. Enjoy that precious child, and get out
there and walk, run, crawl if you have to, but exercise, drink lots of
water, let the pop and junk go, and make a new committment to move forward.
The honeymoon preiod for wls only lasts about 6 months to 1 year, after
that, it is diet and exercise like veryone else. This is where you are,
and I think diet and exercise will work for you. You just need to get past
the initial disappointment and discouragement you are feeling for the
gaining of weight. Today is a new day Robbin, why not push past this
discouragement and look forward. Best to you. Patricia P

Wow, that sounds like me...I have a 22 month old baby girl. It has also
been four years this March since my surgery. I lost 140 pounds four years
ago. I gained 26 throughout the pregnancy, I am hanging on to 20 pounds.
I just had a visit with my surgeon and he was not to concerned about the
weight gain, however I am miserable! I am really struggling like you to
get back on track. As Mothers we all are so busy taking care of everyone
else but ourselves. I have found that Weight Watchers is a great support!
It is motivating and accountable. Now that Spring is coming make a
committment to get out and walk. Find a walking buddy. Drink, drink,
drink your water! Keep a food and exercise journal. For me prayer is so
important! All things are possible with God. Hang in there, enjoy your
toddler, and remember that we have to stay healthy for our familes, they
need us. Good luck and God bless!
