I take the liquid of flax/borage oil combination with my oatmeal and have had no issues just the benefits of regularity and improved skin condition. I got a small bottle to try from the local health/natural food store.

I don't know how far out you are, but you may consider flax seed meal. I'm four years out. The meal isn't expensive and you only need a tablespoon a day. It does need to be refrigerated to protect the oils. It adds fiber to your diet. I either spinkle mine on my morning oatmeal or in my afternoon yogurt. I like the texture it adds and a slight nutty taste. It does make some people a little gassy.

Hi Mary. I am about 6 1/2 months post op. Around 5 months post op my hair started to break off, "fall out", and was really dry looking. It looked brittle! At all my check-ups my labs have been great. I eat, drink water, and take my vitamins like I should. Just a couple weeks ago I noticed the breaking/ falling off started to slow down a lot. At that time I started taking one Vitamin E, 400- along with the multivitamin, biotin, b12, zinc and iron that I am taking and have been since a month prior to my surgery. My best friend suggested me trying vitamin E when I complained about my hair's dryness. I can honestly say that the Vitamin E has helped the texture of my hair improve. My hair feels soft and smooth again. It also looks a lot smoother, not as dry looking. I did not change shampoo or conditioner, I have not changed my diet, so I figure it must be the vitamin E. I bought the vitamin E in Walmart, it's very inexpensive. I just had to share my 'new discovery' with everyone. I hope it helps someone like it has helped me! Take care. Smiles, Jenna

Mary Hi there, I take Flax oil 3 times a day and I agree that it has helped with dry hair and skin.I take 3 - 500 mg oil pills a day. I hope too that it is o.k. I will continue to take it unless I hear otherwise. As for the seeds they do need to be ground up before you eat them to get the whole benefit of them otherwise they pass through just like sesame seeds , just a tip.Good luck Pam

I tried the flax seed, but found it passed through just the way it went in. I found at walmart a bag that is ground. I put it in oatmeal, sprinkle on my salad and put it into the yogurt. It has a nice nutty flavor. But keep it in the frige. or freeze it. I hope this suggestion helps you. Rita
