Question:
How many visits did you have for your Psych evaluation?
I recently scheduled my insurance required psych evaluation. When I got the confirmation from insurance in the mail, it shows that they have approved up to 4 visits for this evaluation. One for the initial consult, one for testing, one for follow-up and one for the doc to use for her "evaluation". Is this common? How many times did you have to go back? I have Ohio Med PPO. — Carolyn M. (posted on April 3, 2003)

even though you have been approved for so many visits that doesn't mean the
provider will use them all. they might but my evaluation was done in one
visit that took just under one hour. good luck, kimberly open distal bypass

My psych eval was about a half-hour. I answered one page of questions, and
then spoke with her for about 20 minutes. She was the psych my surgeon's
office uses for all their patients. Not a big deal at all.

I went in one day and took the psch eval tests, it took me about 2 hours,
and then I went back another day and saw the pschologist, that appointment
took about 50 minutes, and she told me that she would give me surgery
clearance. But, the insurance company is just taking caution, if the
pschologist may find something questionable, they may want to have another
visit with you and that would be covered, do not worry, it is better than
not getting enough visit approved. Hope this helps

I was scheduled for two, but after my first visit the Psych told me that
she didn't see the need for the second visit. She gave me the tests that I
had to do and told me to drop them off when I was done. Guess I am pretty
boring!! lol.

Hi! As you can see.....it depends on the psychiatrist. The first time I went
in,I didn't even see the psychiatrist.I just took the MMPI2 test.The test
has to get put through a machine where the answers get compiled and then
the psychiatrist has to interpret the results. My second visit was the
actual psych evaluation and we went over the results of the MMPI2 test. Some
psychiatrists will charge you for the time that they have to spend just
interpreting the results of the test.

Hi, mine was 3 visits with the doc and one additional to pick up the
"letter" that my surgeon needed. First one, visit with the doc so
he could get my history, second was for the testing, third the follow-up to
discuss the findings and fourth.. the letter. Good luck!
