Question:
How are people losing so much weight with the Lap Band so fast?
I had my surgery on 11/23/09 and have lost 34 lbs so far. But I lost 30 on the liquid part in 4 weeks, and since then I only lose about 1 pound a week. And I want to know what you are doing to lose weight so fast? — dm65656 (posted on January 22, 2010)

I had a lapband for 4 years. Until you get that first fill, and feel
restriction (which you don't state if you have), you probably will lose
slowly. Lapbanders lose a little slower anyhow since it's a purely
restrictive procedure.

You are doing fine. I had my surgery 12/10/09 and have only lost 22 lbs,
13 of that before surgery. If you think 1-2 lbs/week, that's good. This
isn't like the RNY or other surgeries. The lapband will result in slower
weight loss, but 1-2 lbs is a healthy rate, and the slower you take it off,
the slower it will come back on, if it does.
I had my first fill on 1/18/09 and noticed only a little difference in
restriction. I only had 2cc put in. Also, are you exercising????? That is
key, and don't kid yourself. I just started working out, 30 minutes a day
last week, and dropped 2 lbs in 5 days.
Good luck!

I had my surgery on Sept. 23, and since then I've lost 20 pounds - I lost
20 before my surgery. I write down EVERYTHING I eat and only eat what I am
supposed to.. but I think it is (IMHO) the fact that I always have lost
weight slowly. It took me 50+ years to put this on, so I am patient.. I'll
get it off eventually. The positive side -- I feel phenomenal!!!!

I don't understand how some of those with lapband have lost the amounts
they have and I have been slow and steady...since my surgery last March I
have only lost 40 pounds, but overall to include the pre-op diet I have
lost nearly 80 pounds. There are days that I get discouraged and wonder if
I should have gone the RNY route. HOWEVER, I knew my weight loss would be
slow when I went under the knife I have to accept that on a daily basis.
