Question:
Does or did anyone have a problem with excess mucus PRE-op??
Did anyone have a problem with excess mucus or phlegm buildup in the throat or espophagus pre-op? (especially in the morning) I am wondering if this will get worse or better post op? It makes me nauseaus and sometimes I have to vomit it up.. like the "frothing", but I havenet had surgery yet! It only happend the last month as well as acid relux starting the last month.. Any input is appreciated. — Gail M. (posted on February 1, 2001)

Hi Gail,
I did. Terrible problem. I thought for sure they would fine something on
the chest xray. But they didnt. I have to say that at 1 week out my
"mucous" problem seems to be gone. Don't ask me why..but it is.
And my nose is clear..I can smell again :-)

Hi Gail, I'm pre-op, and I've suffered from this same phlegm 'condition',
moreso the older I get. I find when I cut out sugars & carbs from my
diet, it virtually goes away. This may help you as well. Hopefully after
surgery you will be put on a low-carb sugar-free diet. That's what I'm
gathering the more posts I read (I'm a newbie). But seriously try the no
carb thing....it really helps me...best wishes!
