Question:
Has anyone picked up another insurance just to cover this surgery?
I have found out that my husbands insurance through his company has got the dreaded exception in the policy of no WLS for obesity including morbid obesity.Im so tired of trying to find ways around this and am ready to have this surgery.I am wondering has anyone just gotten an individual medical policy for just for themselves outside of any job to have this surgery, this is what I want to do but I need to know where to start. Please help! — Trish M. I have looked into this and most deny coverage because of what they
consider 'pre-existing' conditions'. Being obese with co-morbidities such
as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc. is considered
'pre-existing'. I had even sent for info from BC/BS without them having any
knowledge of my weight and the forms specifically state 'any weight loss
programs/procedures not covered'.

I waited for open enrollment for BC/BS and they approved my surgery. I am
scheduled for this month. It didn't take long either. They state no
waiting for pre-exsisting conditions. They take applications in October
for the 1st of the year.
