Question:
24 month BMI Proof
Has anyone else had a hard time with the 24 month BMI greater than 35 proof? My BMI is around 38-39 most of the time except when I diet than it might drop. When I stop it goes right back up again. The insurance CIGNA is giving me a really hard time. How do you appeal this....any idea's. If I was 5'2 instead of 5'3 this wouldn't even be an issue. I would highly recommend hiring an attorney that specializes in bariatric
surgery cases. It is usually between $500- $700 and when the insurance
company get their letter, somehow an approval tends to come through pretty
quickly. Ridiculous how our insurance companies would rather pay for our
life long illnesses and co-morbidities than for a one time, life saving
surgery. I shouldn't get myself started.
Best of luck,

Hello,
I got approved with a BMI of 39.5 that the office rounded up to 40. I did
NOT stand up tall and they weighed me with my clothing on. It was fairly
easy to "make" myself 5'1 instead of 5'2.

BCBS gave a prompt denial when I first submitted my surgery request,
because my doctor wasn't specific enough in his charting to prove that I
had been seeing him for my wieght as well as other ailments. I simply
called up my doctor and asked him (his secretary, actually), to write a
letter on my behalf, stating how long I'd actually been seeing him for
weight loss for, my weight, BMI and such. I got an approval the next day.
Good luck!
