Question:
Could I just take my protein in liquid form?
and TO HELP GET MY PROTEIN TO BE AT 80-90GMS COULD I JUST TAKE MOST OF IT IN THE LIQUID PROTEIN AND IN THE PROTEIN BARS? IS THERE ANYTHING WRONG WITH GETTING MORE THAN 100GMS OR MORE OF PROTEIN IN EACH DAY? I WORK NIGHTS AT A HOSP. AND THEY MAINLY HAVE FAST FOOD AND I DON'T WANT TO EAT THAT. I AM DRINKING AMINO 2222 IN CRYSTAL LIGHT. ARE THERE ANY OTHER PROTEIN LIQUIDS THAT I CAN ADD TO CRYSTAL LIGHT? — LORETTA P. (posted on February 15, 2002)

Hi Loretta, Real food would probably be a better choice and supplement
with the protein drinks and bars. Couldn't you take some tuna or chicken
salad to work with a few crackers? If they have a microwave, there are
lots of high protein small frozen meals. String cheese, cottage cheese,
yogurt, hard boiled egg or egg salad will also help. Cooked shrimp with
coctail sauce is another high protein quick meal. I've never heard of
anything wrong with getting over 100 grams of protein. Good luck!

Hi. Too much protein can be a problem without adequate water intake. It
can cause renal (kidney) stones, as well as cause damage to the kidneys
themselves as they struggle to filter it all out. Vitalady has mentioned
the need to drink lots and lots of water when doing super-high protein.
Vitalady, do you want to "weigh in", here?

I'm a big fan of protein in supplemental form. It's measurable and reliable
that way. You can be fairly certain you are getting almost 100% of
pre-digested proteins. You might want to look into whey proteins, which
you can premeasure dry & take to work. Then you can add a few oz of
water at your convenience, shake it up and it's done. The collagen
proteins are usually not as complete as whey and may not give you all the
benefits, such as killing sugar cravings. I do get all my protein via
supps. I prefer fruits & veggies, so it frees me to eat the things I
enjoy & my weight has been steady now for years.
