Question:
I have had bc/bs since 8-1-99 what ae my chances of approval

I did not have any insurance before 8-1-99 . I now have bc/bs option 2000 the surgeon submitted my papers for WLS on 11-15-99. BC/BS has asked for medical records. what is my chance of approval. anyone else ever been approvaed in a situaton like this.    — STAR W. (posted on December 5, 1999)

I have bc bs ppo and had no problem. it seems they have said ok to many.

Starr, BC/BS of NC approved my surgery after I submitted more medical records and gave them further documentation of my health problems, diet history, etc. If they did not outright deny you, but instead asked for more medical records, that seems to me to be a good sign. If they were going to deny you based on something like pre-existing condition, exclusion, etc..., they would have denied you right off the bat rather than ask for medical records...To me, it sounds positive. Besides, my surgeon thinks BC/BS is one of the absolute best overall for WLS approvals. Best of luck, Amber
